Catalyst Community Developments Society is now taking application for the rental homes being constructed at Headwaters North (363 Peterson Drive- Building A) and Headwaters South (366 Peterson Drive - Building B). Move-in for Headwaters North is anticipated (but not guaranteed) for December 1st 2023 and early 2024 for Headwaters South.

Applications are due 9 pm August 13th and must be submitted by email with PDF attachments to rentheadwaters@catalystcommdev.org. If you are applying for a Deep Subsidy or Rent-Geared-to Income (RGI) unit you must also apply to the BC Housing Registry at https://housingapplication.bchousing.org/olf/faces/welcome.

Construction is continuing on Headwaters North and South. Recent progress has included
The planned progress through June into July includes for the north building deck membrane installation, exterior cladding, continued rough-ins and bathroom plumbing. For the south building, completion of the slab and foundation exterior wall torch on, dimple board and insulation.

The Tofino Housing Corporation completed the Purchase Lottery on October 4th for the half-duplexes at 346 and 356 Peterson Drive.
The Purchase Lottery included a total of 6 eligible applicants that were randomly ordered. All applicants were given an opportunity to get pre-qualified for a mortgage to be able to sign a Pre-Construction Purchase Contract. Unfortunately, there were not enough of the applicants who were able to pre-qualify and the Tofino Housing Corporation has put the Peterson Drive Duplexes project on hold. We are now in the process of considering what to do next, including reviving the project under similar or revised parameters.

As Creekside Residence at 700 Sharp Rd (down the road from the Dolphin Motel) has been constructed and fully occupied, the THC has released an overview publication: why THC exists, who is eligible for THC-facilitated housing and how THC is funded.
The Tofino Housing Corporation has released its 2021-2023 Strategic Plan. The plan outlines a renewed vision, mission, four focus areas and the strategic priorities for the next three years. THC has a vision of A safe, secure and affordable place to live is available to all people who call Tofino home with a mission to facilitate development and operation of below market housing in Tofino. The Plan is the Corporation's guide to take it through this first phase of development at DL 114 and Sharp Rd and the actions required to set the stage for meeting its 2030 development target. Currently, a new Strategic Plan is underway to envision housing at the community and to execute Tofino Housing Corporation's mandate by providing affordable housing for members of Tofino.
