The Public Hearing for the Sharp Rd below-market rental housing is scheduled for 4:00 pm, Tuesday October 22nd in the Tofino Council Chambers. An information session will be held prior to the Public Hearing at 3:30 pm.

The Tofino Housing Corporation is about to launch the rezoning process for the DL 114 Phase 1 development site in partnership with the Catalyst Community Developments Society.  Catalyst is an experienced not-for-profit developer, owner and operator of affordable rental housing and community spaces with over 10 projects in operation or development across southern BC and will be the developer and operator of the Sharp Road housing. You may have seen early concept plans of the DL 114 Phase 1 project and the design has evolved to 72 below-market rental housing apartment units in two separate buildings and 6 duplex units, which may be market housing or affordable homeownership housing.  

  

In advance of taking a rezoning application to the District of Tofino, Catalyst and THC would like to invite you to review the proposal, answer any questions and hear your feedback.

THC Winter 2019 Report

 The Tofino Housing Corporation is continuing to make progress towards our primary goal of building new affordable rental housing in Tofino. As highlighted in the Winter 2019 report we have been making continued progress. Key highlights include: 

* Developing with the assistance of Catalyst Community Developments Society a revised preferred design for a 12-14 unit rental housing development on Sharp Rd. 

* Confirmation of a PDF no-interest loan from BC Housing for the pre-development work for DL 114, which will be backed by a loan guarantee from the District of Tofino. 

* Confirmation with the District of Tofino of appropriate road design and servicing standards for DL 114.

We expect to be submitting rezoning applications for both Sharp Rd and the DL 114 phase 1 projects in the late spring / early summer.
